Situation: Let's say your client has a special event and wants to outfit both permanent and temp staff for a party. It's an upscale corporate client, so t-shirts are out of the question. Your first suggestion would likely be combed cotton pique polo shirts w/direct embroidery, but it's going to cost $10 to $15 per head and their budget is just under $2! Also it doesn't really make sense to buy those nice polo shirts for temp event staff. What to do? Read More >

Situation: If you enjoy wearing cap or you're a cap collector, let's be honest? How many caps do you have in your closet? Some people have a countless number of caps that they collected or bought over the years. But, why not wear just one hat that can be interchangeable by simply switching a Velcro-backedembroidered patch? Read More >

Custom Patches: Customize That Embroidered Patch!

Expand
  • Whether iron-on or sew-on, embroidered patches will always be available to complete every uniform or stylish outfit in your closet. Although most custom patches come along with the uniform bought straight from a department store or a personal couturier, individuals who are keener in making a personal statement will find the entire process of ordering their embroidered patch fun. Why wouldn’t it be?
  • The initial step involves coming up with the design – sketches, colors, symbols – full of artwork and lovely brainstorming. Then one goes canvassing for the cheapest patch store in the area which can provide the highest quality embroidered patches. The store shall then present an actual patch sample subject to obtain the customer’s approval before running in the full production order. The customer shall select their choice of styles, sizes, shapes, and colors - including the type of backing of their custom patches. The most common type of embroidered patch backing is a heat transfer backing, as it only takes the heat of the iron to adhere the patches to any article of clothing. In cases where embroidered patches may need to be replaced from time to time, Velcro backings will do the trick. Another type is the double-sided tape backings which offer the same flexibility that the Velcro ones do.

Also, new organizations seeking to create an identity for themselves will initially conceptualize a logo to represent their group, which will later on materialize into ordering custom patches for their shirts.

To help one get started, here are a few tips to consider when ordering embroidered patches: Ensure that the patch store provides an actual sample before processing the full order. Most stores nowadays provide custom patch samples for a minor cost.

Know the minimum piece requirement of each store – this is especially applicable for bulk orders. Quantity may be relevant to price, so a little math would be helpful. Some stores may also accept special orders for custom patches on a piece-by-piece basis, depending on the design and size. For transactions made online, check if the store also provides free shipping.

Ask for referrals if possible. This may not necessarily mean savings, but word of mouth could still be a reliable factor in helping you decide which embroidered patch company go with.
