Greek letters are most prevalent among sororities and fraternities, where most of these organizations were named after this alphabet. Thus, in big universities were they are all over, you will identify them by the Greek lettering that is plastered on their respective houses and headquarters. To someone who is not familiar with Greek letters, they may look like symbols or insignia because they almost resemble drawings rather than letters.
Rivalry among fraternities is very stiff and so is competition. Thus, to be able to identify the members of each group, everyone can be identified by their respective symbols, insignia, or uniforms that bear the fraternity’s logos.
