Medal and Medallion
Millions of award medals are given out each year for winners (and sometimes mere participants) in all types of sporting events around the world. Sports medals are awarded at local swim meets, college track meets, national gymnastics competitions, and world and Olympic figure skating competitions, among many other athletic arenas. These medals honor the achievement of these athletes, who train so hard to reach the top of their game. They are a symbol of the pride and distinction they should feel for their accomplishments.
But of course, sports medals are not the only type of custom medals. Academic competitions like spelling bees, science fairs, and Academic Decathalons also award medals to outstanding students each year. Then there are the county fair medals, the Congressional Medals of Honor, the war medals, and even the Newbery Medal.
